Recently I've noticed some older forum posts refer to other threads using URLs that no longer work (deliver 404 error). Here is an example busted link: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=14792846 Does anyone know if there is a way to fix such broken links? strathglass - Thu Nov 02 07:29:44 EDT 2017 |
Re: Broken Forum Links? I don't think so. When IBM changed the forum software, all posts got new internal numbers and a mapping between old and new numbers was not published AFAIK. You might ask IBM, but I doubt that after all this time, anyone has archived this list. When doing the migration, IBM converted more or less all valid links to the new numbers, so all links that you can find now on the internet should be correct.
But you can use the forum search. In my outlook archive I found the post you are referring to, it has the heading "Comparing OLE Objects". A forum search with this term (including the "), lead me to the new link: |
Re: Broken Forum Links? I recall the hullabaloo when the forum changeover happened, but I thought in the end the old links were working...I haven't really encountered this too often actually, so I am lucky.
Thanks Mike for finding that one for me! |
